Pflugerville First Week Round-Up

The Pflugerville High School Panthers kicked off their season this week with two victories. On Tuesday they played Westlake High and won 65-57 and on Friday they squeaked by Killeen Ellison 69-66.

2013 PG TJ Williams did a great job in both games controlling the offense and getting others involved, in addition to creating his own opportunities as he scored in double digits in both games and was in double digits in assists against Killeen Ellison. 2013 W Justin Moss was the beneficiary of those assists from Williams as he led the scoring for the Panthers in both games with mostly all his points coming on lay-ups. Moss runs the floor well and does a good job finding open space under the basket.

2013 6'7 F Wesley Brown was strong on the boards as he had double digit boards against Killeen Ellison. Most of what Brown does will not show up on stat sheets as most just focus on scoring. However he locked down the paint and altered tons of shots around the basket with his length.

Boys basketball preview – New faces in plenty of places

Change is a common thing in high school sports. Every year players come and go and sometimes coaches turn over as well. This year in particular, change is hitting the PISD boys basketball teams hard. Pflugerville has a new coach and just one returning player, Hendrickson has the same coach but no returning players while Connally has quite a few returning players and the same coach, but is bringing back a team that won just two games last year. With the season about to tip off, here’s a look at the local teams.

Connally Cougars
Coach: Marshall Sanders
Last year: 2-28

Returning: Marcel Pimpton (senior/all district), Adrian Williams (junior/district newcomer of the year), Deshawn Riddick, TJ Rush, Jovanta Budd, David Jones, Breion Evans, Dajon Williams and Mike Egwuagu.

New faces: Joseph Mitchell, Roy Jones, Andrew Hill, Xavier Malveaux and Joseph Williams.

Stengths: “Our depth and experience,” Sanders said. “We only lost two seniors from last year and all these guys got to play every night. We will be fast and we have the most guys that can shoot the ball that I have ever had.”

Concerns: “We’re really focused on playing better on-ball defense without fouling so much, and not having the long scoring droughts that we would have at times last year,” Sanders added.
Keys: “We have to play better defense on the ball and not put our opponents on the foul line so much,” Sanders said. “We have to execute offensively better than we did last year. We have to use our speed and athleticism in our presses to our advantage. We believe that we really learned a lot from the really poor season that we had on the court last year. Our kids are hungry to prove that last year was an aberration and not indicative of things to come for Cougar basketball.”

Hendrickson Hawks
Coach: Jim Reid
Last year: 27-9, district champion, bi-district finalist.

Returning: No one.

New faces: Issak Gonzales (junior/guard), Josh King (junior/forward), Kalan Pendergrass (junior/forward) Raheem Griffin (senior/forward) and Jaylen Hardemann (sophomore/forward).
Strengths: “Our work ethic,” Reid said. “This is the hardest working group (in a while). It is possibly the fastest group I have coached and our talent very evenly distributed.”

Concerns: Youth and inexperience,” Reid answered. “Only one player (Isaak Gonzales) has logged competitive minutes in a varsity game. He played in six games last year due to injuries. A couple of others played in one game, but not in a competitive portion of the game.”
Keys: “We will have to gain experience quickly and overcome a lack of size (biggest kid is 6-foot-1-inch) quickly,” Reid said. “District starts on Nov. 29th due to addition of Cedar Creek and Cedar Ridge to our district. Hopefully our work ethic will pay off.”

Pflugerville Panthers
Coach: David Raigosa
Last year: 29-7, district champions, regional quarterfinalist.

Returning: TJ Williams (junior/point guard, second-team all district).

New faces: Justin Moss (junior/forward), Napoleon Onyeji (junior/guard), Darius Brooks (junior/ guard), Darian Bostic (junior/guard), Daniel Oschner (senior/post), Wesley Brown (junior/post), Bryce Bierbower (sophomore/forward) and David Parker (sernior/guard).

Strengths: “Without much experience, the team plays well together,” Raigosa said.

Concerns: Inexperience,” Raigosa added. “Williams is the only player with varsity experience.

The young guys will have to step up.”
Keys: “The tough schedule early will get us ready for district play,” Raigosa said. “We must battle through that time period so we can play our best basketball in January and February. I am thrilled with the effort that the team is showing in practice to this point. We have lost 16 seniors in our program over the last two years. No one is going to feel sorry for us so we must play up to the standard that has been set in past years.”

San Antonio 115 Austin 95

While the younger San Antonio classes had several very intriguing big prospects who made their marks on the game, the 2013 clash was guard heavy. San Antonio's Marcus Keene, Johnny Azzinaro, Justin Brickman and Demarcus Whittington won this battle hands down as the Alamo City cruised to the win.

Below were the top performers for the Austin squad in the lost against the San Antonio squad. All are from Pflugerville High.

2013 W 6'2" Justin Moss of Pflugerville
I already mentioned him yesterday, but he came to play in the second game dropping 19 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists in the loss.

2013 P 6'7" Wesley Brown of Pflugerville
Brown gave his second straight nice effort (especially for a big man who has to run the floor) as he had 12 points and 6 rebounds.

2013 G 6'0" Napoleon Onyeje of Pflugerville
The sharpshooter had 10 points but dropped a game high 8 assists as he continues to morph into a combo guard. Being paired in the backcourt with injured 2013 6'1 G T.J. Williams of Pflugerville should really make the Panthers dangerous this year despite not having senior leadership.

Both the Class of 2013 and Class of 2012 had "preliminary games" to decide which players from the North actually played in the Austin-San Antonio Challenge component. There were twice as many Austin area players trying to make their name than those from San Antonio. This was the case for three reasons; A) The event was held in Austin so it was convenient for kids in proximity to attend, B) I did a better job of informing Austin high school coaches as a group of the opportunity for their players, C) There was a noticeable complete lack of participation by a few club teams from San Antonio. Next time I will bypass this obstacle so individual families can decide for themselves to take advantage of an opportunity for their son.

The fact that over 100 players wanted to be part of this over a mere 10 day window of marketing which only included the www.d1nation.com web site and Facebook is pretty amazing. Our next event styled this way will occur a week prior to State Tournament Weekend in March. The next time it will be more convenient for the South players to attend and I will do a better job of informing the San Antonio High School Coaches.

2013 Austin Play In Game Top Performers/Prospects

Blue 104 White 67

With five of the top six performers on one side of the ball it was easy to see why it was a blowout. Five players were in double figures for the Blue as they throttled the white team. They were led by Ethan Gilbert (16), Stefan Vidovic (20), Kevin Diaz (13), John Gramlich (13) and Wesley Brown (13).

2013 W 6'5" Ethan Gilbert of Austin LBJ
Not only did Gilbert score 16 points but he also put in work on the boards with 13 rebounds, 2 blocks and dropped a couple of dimes as well. Gilbert runs the floor extremely well, is long and skilled. Easily on the high end of the mid major prospect scale.

2013 G 6'4" Stefan Vidovic of Lake Travis
I've watched Vidovic and have known his family for years. He was a pleasant surprise not in his physical play, but with his maturity he showed on the court. If he keeps this focus the sky is the limit. He's got great range, elevates when he shoots his jumper and brings a toughness and swagger to the gym. He had 20 points to lead all scorers and chipped in with 5 rebounds as well.

2013 G 6'0" John Gramlich of Austin Anderson
Gramlich is an excellent lead guard prospect. He had 13 points and 7 rebounds. He always seems to be in control, knows how to run a team and to score as well if needed. He was the Class of 2013's most committed on ball defender in the two games he played.

2013 W 6'2" Justin Moss of Pflugerville
As the rest of his squad was taking a spanking, Moss never quit. He did what he does best running the floor and getting buckets in transition. He led the way with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.

2013 P 6'7" Wesley Brown of Pflugerville
Brown is an emerging big who had 13 points and 8 boards. He is showing marked improvement in finishing around the goal and competing on the glass. Ivy League type grades as well make him an intriguing, well rounded prospect.

2013 F 6'7" Blake Danielak of Liberty Hill
Danielak is new to this super select type of stuff and he's still not quite asserting himself as much as he's likely to do once he understands he belongs with the area's elite. He had a nice showing though with 10 points and 8 rebounds. I love his versatility to go inside/out and his willingness to defend in the post against much more physical players.

2013 G 5'9" Kevin Diaz of Killeen Ellison
Recently moved from New York, Diaz has an edge to his game. Likes to go one on one with an extremely quick first step and mad range out to 30 feet. He's a streaky shooter with a flava to his game who can really fill it up.

2013 G 6'2" Will Morse of Austin Westlake
Morse is a combo who has a picture perfect jumper. He finished with 10 points and 4 rebounds. He's a solid contributor in all phases of the game.

2013 G 6'0" Jacob Vick of Georgetown
What I wouldn't give to put Vick's fundamental game into every player's body. Pivot, reverse pivot, jab step, rip through....and all on the same possession! These are skills that many players are deficient in. Now Vick just needs to adjust to the level and say I can FINISH against these guys. I like him!

2013 G 6'0" Napoleon Onyeje of Pflugerville
Onyeje is usually a dominant scorer, but only tallyied 7 in this game. What impressed me is that Onyeje is developing his game and becoming a complete player who is able to set up team mates and make them better. On his way to being a very good combo.

2013 G 6'4" Zach Behr of Temple
Behr has good size, is tough and shows excellent range on his shot. Big enough to post up effectively down low but can also take you on the perimeter.

2013 G 6'3" Jordan Manse of Lake Travis
There were only 10 spots for the Challenge game, and Manse barely missed out as I determined him to be the guy on the cusp. He showed pure point guard vision and an understanding of how to get his team mates involved in the flow of the game.

Pflugerville Slips by Hendrickson in Fall League

Cross town rivals Pflugerville High and Hendrickson High took to the hardwood on Wednesday night during the Pflugerville Pfall League. This should have been a fairly easy game for Pflugerville as they have the more athletic team and Hendrickson was without one of their key players, 2013 G Josh King. However Hendrickson would not make it easy.

With great defense, good ball distribution and consistent penetration, Pflugerville controlled the game in the first half and the beginning of the second half. At one point the Panthers were up by 15. However 2013 G David Hernandez led a Hendrickson surge and brought the game within 4 points. Pflugerville was able to hang on for a 6 point win.

2013 PG Darius Brooks returned from injury for Pflugerville and did a great job distributing the ball to shooters 2013 G Darian Bostic and 2013 G Napoleon Onyeje who hit some big shots. 2013 W Justin Moss hit a few nice mid-range jumpers and had a nice dunk. 2013 F Wesley Brown just killed the boards, virtually shut down Hendrickson's low post players and had a couple of nice finishes around the rim.

The Panthers will wrap up Fall League next Wednesday 10/19 against a very athletic Hutto High squad.

Pflugerville Pfall League Update

This evening the Pflugerville Panthers will play their cross-town rivals, Hendrickson High in Fall League action.

The Panthers continued their good play last week with an impressive win over Westlake High School. It was nice to see the team continue to improve on the defensive end and show a lot better recognition of when to fast break and when to slow the offense down and run sets. The team is getting more comfortable with each other and the players are beginning to understand their roles. Let's see if they can build on those improvements.

Hendrickson High graduated their entire varsity team last year. Although most of the current varsity players played JV together, the lack of varsity experience and leadership may pose a problem. However they do have some good talent at the guard spot in 2013 6'3 G Josh King and 2013 6'0 G Isaac Gonzalez. Both played spurts with the varsity squad last season and had productive summers.

D1 Nation - Texas Super Showcase Pflugerville Wrap-Up

The Pflugerville High Basketball team will get back to Fall League tonight against Westlake after competing in the D1 Nation's Texas Super Showcase this past weekend. The Texas Super Showcase was a one day tournament with some of the top Central Texas area's high school talent.

Having not perform well in their last two Fall League games, the Panthers were able to put it back together in the Texas Super Showcase. Although they lost their first game by 6 points to Bowie High, they played a lot better as a team, more controlled on offense, better ball distribution and a lot better effort on defense. This successful combination resulted in a blowout win in the second game against Temple High.

The team is very deep at the guard spot so even with two key guards sidelined with injuries (2013 PG TJ Williams and 2013 PG Darius Brooks), the Panthers were able to get very good guard play from 2013 Napoleon Onyeje and 2013 Darian Bostic. 2014 G Bryce Bierbauer was a pleasant surprise as he was brought up from the JV squad to fill in. He did more than just fill in as he played gritty defense and hit open 3's.

2013 W Justin Moss did what he does best, run the floor hard and get easy lay-ups. 2013 PF 6'7 Wesley Brown controlled the boards and was able to get easy baskets from guard penetration.

Pflugerville Pfall League Games 2 and 3

After a very good start to the Fall league in the their 1st game win, the Pflugerville Panthers had dismal performances in the 2nd and 3rd games. The lack of ball control and distribution caught up with them as well as not giving a 100% on the defensive end. As a result, they were beaten by two teams with less talent (Lake Travis and Liberty Hill). Now the Panthers will have to regroup and prepare for redemption in the D1 Nation's Texas Super Showcase tournament at Concordia University on Sunday October 2nd.

There were some flashes of very good play as 2013 6'2 W Justin Moss showed his athleticism in running the floor and finishing at the rim. Also 2013 6'7 F Wesley Brown showed that not only can he hit the boards but the few touches he got in the post was able to get to the rim.

This team has plenty of talent but definitely need to learn how to play together if they are going to have any success.

Pflugerville Pfall League Game 1

Pflugerville High began their traditional fall league last night where over the next six weeks they will host games on Wednesday nights against other area teams.

Last night Pflugerville's Varsity squad played Connally High and cruised to a 15 point win. The squad is shaping up nicely and will be very solid at the guard spot and inside at the forward/post positions.

Last night 2013 G Napoleon Onyeje and 2013 PG Darius Brooks both did excellent jobs running the floor and scoring in different spots on the floor. Onyeje was also very good defensively as he had several steals.

What was missing was a better distribution of the ball and that problem will be fixed when 2013 PG TJ Williams returns to the line-up.

2013 6'2 F Justin Moss did a good job running the floor on the break and finishing around the basket. 2013 6'7 PF Wesley Brown was dominant on the boards, finished strong around the rim and played great interior defense.

The core is there for the Pflugerville Panthers to have a very successful season. They have the talent inside and out to be very competitive this year.

The tradition of great point guard play runs deep with the Texas D1 Ambassadors program. Nowhere is it more entrenched than in Pflugerville High School's succession of outstanding floor generals. The PG legacy at Pflugerville, an Austin suburb began with Bryan Beasley (Rice), Jonathan Garza (Lamar) and recently departed Deon Mitchell (Northern Iowa).

The heir apparent is 2013 PG T. J. Williams. I first met T.J. and his father, Tim when he was in the 4th grade and can remember this little kid who just had a sixth sense for how to play the game. He not only understood the next move two passes before anyone else saw it coming (very similar to an accomplished chess player) but even more importantly even though he was the best player on the court his first thought was to make a pass to involve other players for easy baskets. In this day of me first basketball, Williams was a mature thinking basketball player at only 10 years old.

For years, Williams was the undersized thinking man's player...that is until this past spring when he began to sprout. He's now a legit 6'1" in his bare feet. Of course we'll list him at 6'2". The doctors say his growth plates are still wide open. We initially had him playing 17U as a freshman and he took his lumps but this past spring and summer was a different story. Paired in the backcourt with cat quick 2012 PG Michael Hardge of Georgetown allowed Williams to alternate time playing off the ball and taking on combo duties. His passing ability and ballhandling were never in doubt, so this summer he showcased the additional ability to shoot the three ball, mid range and a new found strength in finishing around the goal.

This season Pflugerville will be led by longtime Assistant David Raigosa as legendary Coach Mike Murphy steps down to do a little bit of broadcasting and to work on his potent golf game but don't expect any fall off from the Panthers. They've got too many talented young players and a healthy tradition of being winners.. Expect T.J. Williams to lead the way and then head off into the sunset to play D1 basketball like his fellow Pflugerville and D1 Ambassadors alumni before him.

The D1 schools are already calling and visiting his high school workouts. At the moment he is being courted by Texas State, San Francisco, Denver, Evansville, Albany, and Missouri State. LSU has even made contact. If Williams continues to grow you can expect more of the power conference schools to come calling. T.J. is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Tim Williams of Pflugerville.

Pflugerville High Players Perform at Five-Star Super Session

Five-Star Basketball, one of the premier camps in the country, held an invite only super session in Duncanville, Tx on August 26-28. The camp attracted some of the top 2012 and 2013 talent in the state of Texas. The camp also consisted of the classic drill stations that Five-Star does so well and very competitive scrimmages. Four players from Pflugerville High attended the super session. They were 6'7 PF Wesley Brown, 5'10 PG Darian Bostic, 6'2 F/W Justin Moss and 5'10 G Napoleon Onyeje. All of these players also played on the same AAU team this past summer.

Brown (pictured below) played extremely well against the other big men at the camp. He played to his strength by working the boards hard and playing tough defense. He's also starting to look more and more comfortable with the ball in his hands as he was able to score on different spots of the floor.

Bostic (pictured below) is constantly getting better and stronger at taking the ball to the basket. He did it with ease during the scrimmages against some very good guards.

Moss (pictured below) is finding his way at the wing position. He handled the ball well and demonstrated a nice mid-range shot.

Onyeje (pictured below) continues to be a lethal 3 point shooter and has now started shooting the mid-range a lot more which has expanded his game.

These guys should go back to Pflugerville High with more tools and experience for their individual success and ultimately the success of their high school team.

Pflugerville High gives "sneak peek" in the BTS Shootout

Pflugerville High School competed in the BTS Shootout this past weekend, hosted by A&M Consolidated in College Station, Tx.

This was an early look at a varsity squad who will have only one returning player from last years team. Most are wondering what will be the character of this team.

The team is guard dominated with highly touted 2013 5'11 PG TJ Williams, the lone returner from last year's squad, leading the crew. Williams didn't play in the tournament but he will be the floor general when the season starts. There are a few other very talented guards in 2013 5'10 G Darian Bostic, 2013 5'10 G Napoleon Onyeje and 2013 5'9 G Darius Brooks. All bring different skill sets to the table, but they all have range well beyond the arc, can handle the ball and get to the basket. All played extremely well and demonstrated these skills in the tournament this past weekend.

With all these talented guards the wings and and big men should have a field day running the floor and on pick and rolls. No one runs the floor better than 2013 6'2 F Justin Moss. Moss wasn't 100% in the tournament but he showed flashes of what he's done all summer, beating everyone down the floor and getting easy baskets. Moss is also a pick and roll king! The middle is in good hands as 2013 6'7 PF Wesley Brown is battle tested. He's played against bigger post players all summer and came out of the summer as a top re-bounder and shot blocker. He didn't disappoint in the tournament this past weekend as he shut down the paint. Offensively he will do very well in pick and rolls, backside and mid-range.

The team went 2-1 in the tournament, winning the first two games by an average of 25 points and losing the third game by 1 on a last second shot.

With one of the most talented class of 2013's making up the majority of this squad, once again Pflugerville High, under new Head Coach David Raigosa, will be a force to reckon with this high school season.

Texas wins 6 national AAU titles

It's been said that the grassroots scene in Texas is grossly underrated. After this summer, the expectations for the Lone Star State will be a little different.

In four of the biggest AAU tournaments of the summer, Texas walked away with six national championships and multiple runner-up and semifinalist performances. Five teams won titles at the three Las Vegas tournaments -- the adidas Super 64, the Las Vegas Live and the Las Vegas Fab 48. Texas also claimed the 11th-grade title at the AAU Super Showcase in Orlando.

Here are the six teams, in alphabetical order, that recently won a national championship.

DALLAS MUSTANGS BLUE
Coaches: Gerald Booker, Cedric Holmes, Brandon Lewis
Tournament: adidas Super 64 (17U Gold)
Key contributors: Soma Edo, Marcus Foster, Shirmane Thomas, Nathan Hawkins

Why they won: The Mustangs had last year on their minds throughout the entire tournament. They lost the Super 64 15U championship game and were determined not to let history repeat itself. There was a definite will to win the title, as they won their last three games in overtime. What made the run so impressive is that the Mustangs did it without two of its standouts in Leyton Hammonds and Kendal Harris.

Tournament: Fab 48 (17U Platinum)
Key contributors: Thomas Brandsma, Nash Nelson, Kendall Jones, Trey Mohair

Championship game Deron Williams Elite 78, Monarchs 70
Why they won: Deron Williams Elite did exactly what every AAU team wants to do. They showed steady improvement week after week and put everything together in time to win a major title. The team doesn't have the household names, but it showed it doesn't need them. Deron Williams Elite wins with team offense, quality defense and an ability to shine on the big stage.

HOUSTON DEFENDERS SELECT
Coaches: Aaron Harrison Sr., James Johnson, Eugene Harris, Chris Crawford
Tournament: AAU Super Showcase (11th grade Gold)
Key contributors: Andrew Harrison, Aaron Harrison, Derrick Griffin, Shaquille Cleare

Why they won: Some teams get hot at the right time. Other teams play with a chip on their shoulder. Teams like the Defenders simply rely on talent. They have the size, the athleticism and the confidence inside and outside to get the job done. What's scary is that the majority of the players are in the Class of 2013, which means they'll be back next year with even more talent and experience.

Championship game Texas Assault 93, Dream Vision 78
Why they won: The Assault felt disrespected from the first day, and they used that as motivation. It's hard to fathom why the defending 16U Super 64 champs couldn't get an invitation to the 17U super pool. The Assault ran through pool-play competitors and then took their frustration out on bracket-play opponents. The team showed that last year wasn't a fluke, as they were crowned back-to-back Super 64 champs.

Why they won: The Ambassadors, for whatever reason, have flown under the radar when discussing the elite teams of this year's grassroots circuit in Texas. Of all the team's 50-plus wins, the victory against the Hoops may have officially put it on the map. The Ambassadors are every bit as good as the other elite teams in Texas, and they have shown on multiple occasions that they are a force to be reckoned with.

There are several AAU basketball teams in Texas that receive periodic national recognition by recruiting analysts. Teams such as the Houston Defenders, Texas Assault, Texas PRO and Houston Hoops get the ink and definitely deserve all the press.

There's a team representing the greater San Antonio area that feels it's every bit as good as the aforementioned -- and it proved it on Tuesday. The Texas D-1 Ambassadors-San Antonio have put together an impressive summer run and have beaten some of the best teams in and out of the state.

Tuesday evening, their beliefs became reality against one traditional Texas power in the finals of the Las Vegas Live Tournament. In an all-Texas clash, the Ambassadors defeated the Hoops, 65-53, to claim the 17U Platinum Bracket championship.

The Texas D-1 Ambassadors-San Antonio won a Las Vegas Live title.
As much as the Ambassadors have won this year (the team is 50-9 this summer entering this weekend's tournament play in California), few victories earned the respect that the win against the Hoops earned. Some even classified the win as a minor upset.

"We obviously have a lot of respect for that group," Ambassadors coach Paul Josephs said, "but our kids came ready to play. They were excited about the opportunity. Our kids feel after everyone we've played, we can compete with anybody."

D-1 Ambassadors founder Max Ivany added: "It's always satisfying to win a major championship. Going into the tournament, Mr. Joseph felt good about the team, and so did I. We felt that had a real honest shot of winning the event. Of course, you need a little luck, and we got that, too."

The Ambassadors have played several of the best teams tough all year, including the Texas Assault, which won the adidas Super 64, also played in Vegas. The Ambassadors won eight consecutive games, the last against highly ranked Division I guards in L.J. Rose and Duke-bound Rasheed Sulaimon. J-Mychal Reese, another star guard for the Hoops, was out with an injury.

The Ambassadors were led by 6-foot-9 Connor Lammert who had several offers entering the tournament and picked up two more from Texas and Stanford during the tournament. He helped the team to an undefeated run through pool and then to bracket-play wins against California-based Greenline Basketball, Nevada-based Marcus Banks Hard 2 Guard, FOH Seattle and the Louisiana Future before meeting the Hoops in the championship game.

While Lammert had a solid tournament, it was the play of his teammates that helped pick up major victories. The backcourt duo of Matt Gramling and Adam Perez ran the offense, while fellow guards Nikko Maxwell and Carter Josephs kept the pace at an even keel. Uche Ofoegbu and Aaron Ramirez were do-it-all swingmen, and Jeff Rodewald and Shelby Lane teamed with Lammert to be the team's interior muscle.

"One of the reasons why I think we're a very good team is because everybody puts team over self," Paul Josephs said. "If Connor tries to do it himself, he may be somewhat successful, but if we let the game dictate who scores, you're going to win your fair share. It was truly a team effort out there."

There is no rest for the new Las Vegas Live champions, as the Ambassadors will compete in the GBOA Challenge of Champions Thursday in Long Beach, Calif.

The San Antonio group wasn't the only Ambassadors team that took home hardware from Vegas.

The Texas D-1 Ambassadors 2013-Bostic defeated the Oklahoma Attack to win the tournament's 17U Silver Bracket. After a 1-2 record in pool play, the guard-oriented Ambassadors, coached by Reginald Bostic, defeated the Oklahoma Shock-Lloyd, Team Missouri and the San Antonio Hurricanes to advance to the bracket finals.

With the assistance and perseverance of players like Justin Moss, Napoleon Onyeje and Rasmus Bach, the Ambassadors took home a 17U title -- despite being a 16U team. Adding to the program's success is the Texas D-1 Ambassadors 2013-Morse, a team that won its pool before bowing out to eventual tournament quarterfinalist DJH5-Houston.

"Honestly, I'd be lying to say it's not gratifying," Ivany said of watching two of his teams win titles. "You get happy because you know the kids are wonderful kids. The San Antonio kids tend not to get the respect as the other teams. As for our 16-and-under teams [D-1 Bostic and D-1 Morse], we expected them both to compete hard and maybe steal a win or two against the 17s. We figured next year would be their year, but they really did some growing on the spot. It was really fun to watch."

Coach Reggie Bostic's 2013 group of Texas D1 Ambassadors chose to play in the 17u division at the Las Vegas Live event. It's not about winning for the D1 Nation's younger groups. It's about development, learning to compete at a high level and getting ready mentally and physically for the following summer when they are 17 year olds.

After going 1-2 in Pool Play, the Texas D1 Ambassadors-Bostic squad won it's first 3 bracket games and faced the Oklahoma Attack. After falling behind by 9 against the bigger Oklahoma squad in the first half Texas D1's relentless running style began to wear their opponent down. They ended up winning going away, including hitting 10 straight free throws to finish out the game. Pflugerville's Justin Moss went off for 25 points while his high school team mate Napoleon Onyeje chipped in with 17 as Texas D1 won the 'Ship going away 74-64.

The Texas D1 Ambassadors 2013-Team Bostic stormed into the final day of the Las Vegas Live event and won the Silver Bracket Championship.

This was a very good accomplishment for the team of 2013's given the fact that they played up at the 17u level and had to beat all 2012 teams to get to and win the championship.

The entire team played well and everyone played to their strengths. The foursome out of Pflugerville High, G Darian Bostic, G Napoleon Onyeje, W Justin Moss and PF Wesley Brown will team with fellow 2013 Ambassadors, G TJ Williams and G Darius Brooks to form a solid nucleus for Coach Raigosa.

G Ras Bach out of Austin Anderson High, G Dylan Larsen out of New Braunfels High, W Sled Allen out of Austin St. Michael's Academy and Pierce Griseman out of Kerrville Tivy, who was a guess player with Team Bostic should all be starters on their Varsity High School teams.

These young men played against some of the best talent across the country. All should take that experience back to their schools and do very well.

Texas D1 Ambassadors 2013-Team Bostic completed day 4 and bracket play at the Las Vegas Live event with an exciting win. Team Bostic was in a back and forth battle with the San Antonio Hurricanes until the final shot and will now advance to the silver bracket championship.

Ras Bach G out of Austin Anderson High struggled with his shot all game until the time it was most needed. With virtually nothing left on the clock Bach hit a nice 15 footer to win the game.

Other leaders were Napoleon Onyeje G out of Pflugerville High led the scoring with 12 points. While both Sled Allen F out of Austin St. Michael's Academy and Darian Bostic G out of Pflugerville High had 11. Wesley Brown F out of Pflugerville High led the team in rebounds with 7 while chipping in 5 points and 2 blocks.

Team Bostic will play for the championship at 11:15am PST Tuesday at Durango High.

Day 3 had Team Bostic completing pool play and finishing 3rd in their pool to fall into the silver bracket at the Las Vegas Live event.

Team Bostic lost a close one against the Arizona Elite team 67-70. Justin Moss W out of Plugerville High led the scoring with 22 points along with Darian Bostic G out of Pflugerville High with 17. Wesley Brown F out of Pflugerville High banged the boards with 8 rebounds and 4 blocked shots while chipping in 7 points.

The team started bracket play Day 4 and continued the strong play. They beat the Oklahoma Shock and then went on to demolish Team Missouri in the second bracket game. Again Justin Moss out of Pflugerville High led the scoring with 18. Ras Bach G out of Austin Anderson High had a nice game with 11 points and 6 rebounds.

Wesley Brown out of Pflugerville High again controlled the middle with 8 rebounds, 3 blocks and chipping in 6 points. Sled Allen F out of Austin St. Michael's Academy hit some big shots in the win.

Like a bad episode of South Park, the Canadians are going back home with a double dose of the D1 Nation. Team Bostic's 16 year olds playing up in 17U overmatched their opponents in every facet of the game. A running clock saved the scoreboard from matching the thermometer from hitting triple digits.

2013 G Napoloeon Onyeje had 20 points and 10 assists to lead the onslaught. 2013 G Dylan Larson of New Braunfels chipped in with 15 points and 5 dimes. 2013 W Justin Moss had 16.

Balanced scoring is a good sign, there just wasn't enough of it. The Pflugerville trio of Darrian Bostic (9), Napoleon Onyeje (9) and Justin Moss (10) led the way. 2013 G Rasmus Bach of Austin Anderson added 8.

Scoring doesn't always tell the whole picture as 6'1 G Dylan Larsen out of New Braunfels high played tough defense and had several nice assists. 6'7 Wesley Brown out of Pflugerville High did nice work on the boards with 8 rebounds and also played great interior defense getting several blocks while also helping in the scoring.

Turnovers and missed free throws were the killers for Team Bostic.

GASO Wrap-Up

The Texas D1 Ambassadors 2013-Team Bostic ended their run at the GASO live event in Duncanville, Tx. Sunday night with a hard fought defeat 47-51 at the hands of the Gulf Coast Blue Chips.

The team missed shots around the rim and inability to make their free throws put them in a very difficult position against a talented squad. Even with the missed shots the game went down to the wire.

The team of 2013's competed hard in the NBA division with only 6-7 players and being undersized. However they finished second in their pool and won their first bracket game to put themselves in position to compete for the Gold bracket championship.

All seven players made very good contributions: Napoleon Onyeje G out of Plugerville High showed that his mid-range game is more deadly than beyond the arc (he can also shoot the 3 well). Darian Bostic G out of Plugerville High, displayed toughness going to the hole,combining that with a nice stroke from the outside and durability as he played the last game with an ankle injury. Dylan Larsen G out of New Braunfels High continued to show that he can be a lock down defender and can hit shots when needed.

Ras Bach G/F out of Austin Andersen High is an incredible athlete at 6'2 as he had a couple of nice dunks and was able to consistently hit his jumper. No one can keep up with Justin Moss F out of Pflugerville High when he runs the floor. He was able to get layups time after time. Sled Allen F out of Austin St. Michael's Academy hit some key 3 pointers. At about 6'7 and 185lbs, Wesley Brown F out of Pflugerville High battled much bigger post players all tournament, however he was able to consistently pull down double digit rebounds and defensively lock down the paint.

Team Bostic will now prepare for their last tournament of a very busy season in Las Vegas.

GASO Day 3 - Texas D1 Ambassadors 2013-Team Bostic

The Texas D1 Ambassadors 2013-Team Bostic finished 2nd in their pool on Saturday and came into Sunday short-handed trying to compete for the Gold Bracket Championship at the GASO live event in Duncanville, TX.

With only 6 players, this team of 2013's played bigger than they are at every position winning their first bracket game 78-66 against the Dallas Longhorn Elite.

There was pretty much balanced scoring between 5'11 Napoleon Onyeje G out of Pflugerville High, who led the team in scoring, 6'2 Justin Moss F out of Pflugerville High, 6'1 Dylan Larsen G out of New Braunfels High and 6'2 Ras Bach, G/F out of Austin Andersen High. 6'4 Sled Allen F out of Austin St. Michael's Academy also contributed. Not only did these guys do a great job carrying the scoring load, but they played great defense.

The middle was owned by 6'7 Wesley Brown F out of Pflugerville High as once again he led the team in rebounds and had several blocked shots while also making a contribution to the scoring.

Team Bostic will play their second bracket game at 8:15pm tonight at the Bob Knight Field House.

The Texas D1 Ambassadors 2013-Team Bostic ended day 2 on a couple of sour notes. After four overtimes in their earlier game on Saturday, the team could not muster enough energy to compete with a talented Broward Tigers 2012 team. In addition to that, the team of 2013's only had 6 players as Darian Bostic who teeaked his ankle in the earlier game could not play.

Team Bostic finished 2nd in their pool and will start bracket play today at 2pm.

The Texas D1 Ambassadors 2013-Team Bostic picked up today where they left off last night. In the first game on day 2 of the GASO live event in Duncanville, TX., the team of 2013's showed incredible heart and toughness. It took an unbelievable four overtimes but Team Bostic came out on top beating the Run N Shoot 89-85.

Team Bostic again got very solid play from everyone. An already undersized team had to go the last two minutes and all four overtimes without their big man, 6'7 Wesley Brown, due to foul trouble. Team Bostic received another scare as PG Darian Bostic tweaked his ankle. After a good tape job, Darian Bostic out of Pflugerville High helped lead the team to a great overtime victory.

Team Bostic will play their third pool game tonight at 8:15pm at Duncanville High School.

GASO Day 1, Texas D1 Ambassadors 2013 - Team Bostic

The Texas D1 Ambassadors 2013 - Team Bostic came out storming on day 1 of the GASO live event in Duncanville, TX.

Team Bostic won the first game in pool play 64-54 and the game wasn't as close as the score indicated. With great on the ball and interior defense, the team of 2013's were able to control the game from start to finish.

Justin Moss, 6'2 F out of Pflugerville High was able to score in double digits as he found gaps in the defense and was the beneficiary of some sweet assists from Darian Bostic, 5'11 G out of Pflugerville High and Dylan Larsen, 6'1 G out of New Braunfels High. Ras Bach, 6'2 G/F out of Austin Andersen High and Napoleon Onyeje, 5'11 G out of Pflugerville High were fearless going to the hole.

Wesley Brown, 6'7 F out of Pflugerville High was a monster on the boards pulling down double digit rebounds and getting several blocks. He got help from Sled Allen, 6'4 F out of Austin St. Michaels.

Day 2 of pool play starts on Saturday at 2pm at Duncanville High School.

Texas D1 Ambassadors Team Bostic Wins Local Austin Tournament

After playing away from home virtually all spring and summer, the Texas D1 Ambassadors Team Bostic 2013 decided to play locally this past weekend to tune up for the GASO Duncanville tournament. Team Bostic showed why they haven't played many local tournaments.

The team of 2013's dominated the varsity division sweeping pool play and going on to win the tournament championship. The team dominated both inside and outside and played some of the best lock down defense of the season.

The four soon to be Juniors for Pflugerville High School were huge and will be key contributors to their high school varsity team. 6'7 F Wesley Brown (far left in the photo above), 5'11 G Darian Bostic (second from left above), 5'11 G Napoleon Onyeje (center of photo #4) and 6'2 F Justin Moss (third from left above) could start for any high school in the Austin area...as were 6'0 G Dylan Larsen out of New Braunfels (far right above) and 6'1 G/F Ras Bach out of Austin Anderson High (second from right).

Texas D1 Ambassadors Team Bostic Updates

The Texas D1 Ambassadors Team Bostic has been busy over the past month playing in three 17U tournaments and finishing 3rd in two of them.

Team Bostic competed in the MAYB Regionals and the Primtime Sportz Qualifier finishing 3rd in both in the 17U divisions. The team then traveled to Bryan/College Station to compete in the second of the four GASO tournaments where they didn't fair very well...losing to a few teams that didn't match them in talent but out hustled them.

The key lesson from the Bryan/College Station GASO tournament was, defense comes first and defensive comes last...period! They have to play hard the entire game as the teams they're playing are very talented and athletic. Still we witnessed some good performances from the team:

PG Darian Bostic out of Pflugerville High is really starting to make a statement as he was a lot more aggressive going to the hole. Match that with his outside shooting ability and it could become a deadly combination as the team go into the July Live period.

PG Dylan Larsen out of New Braunfels High is as tough as nails. He led the effort at the guard spot defensively and was still able to be a threat on the offensive end.

Wesley Brown, the 6'7 F out of Pflugerville High defense and board dominance were on display most of the tournament. When he hit the boards hard he averaged double digits along with getting a few blocks a game. When getting touches, he showed he can be a threat offensively also. If he can put it all together during July, he will turn heads.

SG Napoleon Onyeje out of Pflugerville High hit some very big shots from beyond the arc. His shooting percentage would go through the roof if he focuses more on his mid-range game. He has one of the best strokes in his class.

SG Rasmus Bach out of Anderson High showed that he has the ability to take over a game offensively. This type of leadership will be needed during the Live period.

F Justin Moss out of Pflugerville High wasn't 100% but still showed flashes of running the floor hard and getting to the rim (he had a nice dunk finish in one game). At 100% he will be hard to keep up with.

F George Andersen out of Anderson High showed great improvement in attacking the boards and scoring.

Attention D1 college coaches. For those of you with a scholarship available in the Class of 2011 here's your mid summer steal. 2011 G Jalen Washington at 6'41/2" is your man. He has just qualified academically with his combo of SAT/GPA. The Pflugerville Hendrickson star is a versatile player who can play the one, two or three position.

Washington originally committed to Mount St. Mary's (MD) as a PG prospect after an official visit there last fall but after mulling it over, opted not to sign in the early period. He reopened his recruitment and decided to play his senior year. Lack of passing through the NCAA Clearinghouse kept recruiting to a minimm although South Alabama, Colorado State and others kept flirting with him in the spring. And well they should as the talented player had a monster senior year, with multiple games over 40 points as well as a 50 point effort.

He is not a one trick pony though as many times the ultra long athlete had double digit rebounds and was on the free throw line more than anyone in the State of Texas, averaging 13 attempts per game. All this while running the point at his high school! The Super Cen Tex selection is one of the country's hidden, unsigned gems who is available NOW. If Washington does not receive an offer in the next couple of weeks he will suit up with the Texas D1 Ambassadors for his second campaign. He'll make stops on the circuit at Myrtle Beach (SC), Duncanville (TX), Minneapolis (MN), Las Vegas (NV) and Phoenix (AZ).

Team Bostic's Houston Hoops Summer Prep Classic Wrap Up

This past weekend the Texas D1 Ambassadors Team Bostic traveled to Houston to compete in the Houston Hoops Summer Prep Classic. The team, made up of all 2013 players, did very well finishing 2nd in the 17U Gold Bracket. Below is the summary:

Team Bostic split pool play finishing 1-1. The first game Team Bostic came out storming and never let up on Team Magic. F Justin Moss out of Pflugerville High led all scorers with 14 points and also added 5 rebounds. He can score from anywhere around the basket. PG Dylan Larsen out of New Braunfels High was equally as good with 12 points and 4 rebounds. Both G/F Ras Bach out of Anderson High and G Napoleon Onyeje out of Pflugerville High finished with 10 points, while PF Wesley Brown out of Pflugerville High control the paint with 9 boards and 3 blocks.

The second game was a close one against Team Lobos as Team Bostic couldn't hang on at the end and lost by 4. Team Bostic then opened up bracket play with an impressive win over the Texas Extreme.

In the semi-finals Team Bostic didn't let up as they ran through Team TKO. G Napoleon Onyeje had 13 points 3 assists and 3 steals in the win. PG Darian Bostic out of Pflugerville High was also strong with 8 points, 2 assists and 2 rebounds. F Justin Moss came in with 12 points and PG Dylan Larsen had 10 points and 2 assists. The big men, PF 6'7 Wesley Brown had 6 points, 5 boards and 3 blocks and PF 6'5 George Anthony had 6 points and 4 boards, again did a great job controlling the paint.

Team Bostic lost a very disappointing championship game. Team Bostic controlled the game until the final minutes and could not hold their composure. Several fouls at the end of the game sealed their doom. Darian Bostic, the PG out of Pflugerville High had a monster game with 13 points, 2 assists and 7 rebounds. PG Dylan Larsen also kicked in with 12 points and 3 assists.

Texas D1 Ambassadors Team Bostic at the Next Level Tournament - Day 2

Team Bostic started bracket play on Day 2 of the Next Level Tournament in Frisco, Tx. The team competed in the Silver bracket and continued their great play.

Team Bostic had to start bracket play with a few very key injuries. Wesley Brown PF out of Pflugerville High twisted his ankle and was less than 50%, as was Justin Moss F out of Pflugerville High. Sled Allen F out of St. Michael's Academy severely bruised his ankle and could not play. Team Bostic was able to pick up T.J Williams PG out of Pflugerville High.

In the first bracket game Team Bostic met up with Team Ichiban. This team was small but quick. Team Bostic again came out slow but was able to get the win with strong guard play from Darian Bostic PG out of Pflugerville High, Napoleon Onyeje SG out of Pflugerville High, T.J Williams G out of Pflugerville High and Dylon Larsen G out of New Braunfels High.

The second game was against the Dallas Showtyme, a much bigger team, so Team Bostic had to go to the injured PF Wesley Brown and F Justin Moss. Both played very well with injuries. G/F Rasmas Bach also played well defensively as did PF George Anderson. This game went down to the last second, literally, as the Dallas Showtyme hit a shot with no time on the clock for a controversial win.

This was a back and forth, up and down game as PG T.J Williams was great distributing the ball. PG Darian Bostic was able to take anyone guarding him off the dribble and SG Napoleon Onyeje couldn't be stopped. PG Dylon Larsen was tough both offensively and defensively.

The new Pflugerville High School Varsity Coach David Raigosa would have been extremely happy with the play of five of his players; 2013 Guards 5'11 T.J Williams, 5'11 Darian Bostic and 5'11 Napoleon Onyeje, F 6'1 Justin Moss and PF (Post) 6'7 Wesley Brown.

Texas D1 Ambassadors Team Bostic at the Next Level Tournament - First Day

Team Bostic traveled to Frisco, Tx., in the Dallas area to compete in the Next Level tournament 17U Division. The results of the the first day are as follows:

First day was pool play and Team Bostic finished 2nd in their pool. This talented team of Sophomores ran up against a very good, big and athletic Varsity team from Houston. Team Bostic came out a bit timid in the first half but picked it up in the 2nd half and actually led with about 10 minutes to go in the second half. However 26 turnovers which mostly all led to fast break baskets sealed Team Bostic's doom. You just can't have that many turnovers against a good team and expect to win. Outside of the turnovers, the team competed very well.

Team Bostic got some very strong inside play from 6'7 PF Wesley Brown out of Pflugerville High School. He led all scorers with 12 points and pulled down 12 rebounds. He also did a great job defensively against some nice sized and skilled big men. Below is Wesley Brown finishing at the rim.

6'4 SF Sled Allen out of St. Michael's Academy also had a nice game with 11 points. Below Sled Allen taking someone off the dribble.

The second game Team Bostic started slow and at one point was down by 17 points in the first half, but this talented group of Sophomores rallied in the second half to not only win the game but score 88 points. Team Bostic got strong performances from the entire team however Napoleon Onyeje G out of Pflugerville High School and Rasmus Bach G/F out of Anderson High School were standouts.

Napoleon went off with 27 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 steals. Below Napoleon doing what he does best shooting a 3 pointer. He shot 42% beyond the arc.

Rasmus Bach came in with 20 points, 2 assists and 2 blocks. Below Ras can stop on a dime and hit the sweet jumper.

Other notable performers were Dylan Larsen G out of New Braunfels High School with 14 points, 2 assists, 4 rebounds and some of the toughest on the ball defense a guard can play. Below is Dylan with the ball, he's probably one of the toughest defenders at the guard position in the area.

2011 All Centex Team

The All Centex team chosen by the Austin American-Statesman (photo compliments of the Statesman). This could almost have been a Texas D1 Ambassadors team photo with the exception of Austin Bowie's Connor Robinson. From left to right:

2011 PG 6'0" Deon Mitchell of Pflugerville has committed to Northern Iowa. The silky smooth Mitchell was also named the Centex Player of the Year. He can score and drop dimes almost effortlessly.

2011 P 6'4" Connor Robinson of Austin Bowie. Robinson is a workhorse down low, with great low post footwork, great strength and tenacity on the boards. He was a double double machine all season as the Bulldogs #1 scoring option.

2011 PG 6'4" Eric "Quick" McClellan of Austin High has still not decided where to suit up at the next level. He's visited Northeastern, and is scheduled to visit both Tulsa & Wichita State in the next two weeks. He's a long defender, with great bounce and ability to finish at the rim.

2011 Combo 6'5" Jalen Washington of Pflugerville Hendrickson originally committed to Mount St. Mary's last November but at the last minute decided to reopen his recruitment. Washington is tough to stop going to the cup, rebounds as well as most forwards & can also shoot the three ball. He has opted to play the summer as an unsigned senior where I believe his stock will soar.

2011 PG 6'4" Dylan Cox of Cedar Park has committed to West Point. The two sport star (football) chose Army, and he'll have an instant impact there as a tough minded lead guard who can score & rebound the ball.

Congratulations to all these kids. I've had the pleasure of coaching four of them and getting to know them and their families well. They are all winners and will represent their communities well at the next level-Coach Max Ivany

Texas D1 Ambassadors Team Bostic at the 5 Star Camp Clinic

On Saturday, April 2nd the Texas D1 Ambassadors Team Bostic along with others from the D1 Nation attended the pretigious 5 Star Camp Clinic in Houston Texas. As always the coaches at the 5 Star Clinic did an excellent job taking the group through several workstations focusing on fundamentals like dribbling, shooting and post moves.

Team Bostic were represented by:
-2013 6'7 PF Wesley Brown (Pflugerville H.S). Wesley teamed up with a lot of big men and gained respect demonstrating aggressive board play and strong moves to the basket.
-2013 5'11 PG Darian Bostic (Pflugerville H.S). Darian was very impressive as he showed off his unlimited shooting range and ball handling.
-2013 5'11 SG Napoleon Onyeje (Pflugerville H.S). Napoleon was quick with the ball and demonstrated accuracy from beyond the arc.
-2013 6'2 F Justin Moss (Pflugerville H.S). Justin ran the floor very well and was able to find open spots.
-2013 6'3 G/F Rasmus Bach (Anderson H.S). Ras was able to demonstrate his sweet jumper and ability to elevate to the rim.
-2013 6'4 F Sled Allen (Anderson H.S). Sled had very good footwork and fundamentals.
-2013 6'1 PG Dylan Larsen (New Braunfels H.S). Dylan showed toughness and good shooting ability.

Other area players represented were 2013 5'11 PG TJ Williams (Pflugerville H.S). TJ was smooth as he demonstrated superior ball handling and court vision.
2013 5'10 PG Darius Brooks (Pflugerville H.S). Darius showed his ability to slash and beat his man off the dribble.

Texas D1 Ambassadors Team Bostic Compete in San Antonio

On March 26th Team Bostic traveled to San Antonio to compete in a one day tournament hosted by the Texas Gym Rats.

Team Bostic took an all Sophomore team to compete in their first Varsity tournament and they did not disappoint. Although they finished 1-2, the two games they lost were hard fought battles that weren't officiated very well and went into overtime.

The entire team played very hard and some of the standouts were:

2013 PG/SG Darian Bostic out of Pflugerville High School who averaged 9 points, 2 assists, 2 steals and 3 rebounds.

2013 G/F Rasmus Bach out of Anderson High School averaged 10 points, 4 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal.

2013 F Justin Moss out of Pflugerville High School averaged 9 points and 4 rebounds.

2013 PF Wesley Brown out of Pflugerville High School controlled the paint averaging 3 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks. Pretty impressive considering he fouled out of 2 of the 3 games as a result of some questionable officiating.

2013 SG Napoleon Onyeje out of Pflugerville High School also kicked in an average of 10 points, 2 assists, and 2.5 steals

Next up for Team Bostic is the Houston Hoops 16U tournament on the weekend of April 15-17.

Team Bostic Performs Well at the 2011 D1 Nation Prodigy Camp

The D1 Nation held it's Prodigy Camp on March 13th and Team Bostic 2013 performed extremely well. Team Bostic took away two of the three awards at the camp, the MVP award and the Hustle award.

In attendance from Team Bostic were:

Justin Moss: 6'1 Forward out of Pflugerville High School

All the young men performed extremely well and were some of the top players at the camp. The MVP in the Sophomore division was Rasmus Bach, the 6'3 G/F out of Anderson High School. Ras showed a nice touch from the outside and explosive moves to the basket. This award could have also gone to Darian Bostic, the 5'11 Guard out of Pflugerville High School. Darian also had an excellent camp as he demonstrated incredible range from the 3 point line and was super quick off the dribble.

Wesley Brown, the 6'7 PF out of Pflugerville High School won the Hustle award. Wesley would not be denied in the post as he dominated the boards and showed an array of strong, explosive post moves.

Pflugerville High Playoff Update

Pflugerville squeezed out a victory over Klein Forest to advance to the 5A regional quarterfinals.

Pflugerville 63, Klein Forest 60:

Cameron Blue scored a game-high 20 points while Jamal Shabazz added 11 points for the Panthers (29-4). Deon Mitchell added 10 for the Panthers.

Pflugerville will continue their run for state when they play The Woodlands in the regional quarterfinals. The teams will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hearne High.

With the first round of the playoffs over 75% of high school players are now finished with high school basketball. After this Friday & Saturday, there'll be only about 15% left playing. It's that time of year when the buzz begins about club basketball. Who's playing where, etc etc.

I'd like to take a minute to invite all boys grades 6-12th grade to the Texas D1 Ambassadors tryouts. (PLEASE NOTE THAT PLAYERS WHO ARE STILL IN THE PLAYOFFS ARE NOT WELCOME TO TRYOUT). This is out of respect for your high school coach and his program. However, you are welcome to attend with your parents for registration purposes ONLY.

Texas 5A: Region 2
District 12, 15 & 16 all house teams from our neck of the woods. Houston like to claim them sometimes, but I'm going to include Bryan. Any one of these five teams below can catch fire and make it to the "The Drum". I'm going to go with Pflugerville though because they have a tradition of winning and they have more depth at the guard spot than anyone else in the Region.

Coach Mike Murphy's crew went through District 16 like a hot knife through butter. PG Deon Mitchell (Northern Iowa is virtually unstoppable when he wants to score. The Panthers can throw about 5 guards at you without blinking, including Senior Darrian Dempsey and 2013 heir apparent to Mitchell, T.J. Williams. Everyone on the squad can jack up the three at a high percentage and that includes the Coach who could flick it back in the day for the Texas Longhorns.

Deon Mitchell is as smooth as they come. Will the Baby Faced Assassin lead The Ville to The Drum before heading off to win the hearts of the Northern Iowa faithful?

Pflugerville Looking to Make a Deep Run in 5A Playoffs

Pflugerville H.S, ranked #18 in the country, will try to make a deep run in the 5A playoffs. Led by 2011 Deon Mitchell (Northern Iowa commit), the Panthers will make a run at the state title.

As good as Pflugerville H.S are this year, they will reload big time next year as they will graduate all but two players. There are some very good Sophomores waiting in the wings for Coach Murphy.

Leading the group is 2013 T.J Williams. T.J would start on any other high school squad, but unfortunately he plays behind Mitchell. T.J will be joined by a couple of very talented guards, 2013 Darian Bostic and 2013 Napoleon Onyeje.

At the wing and post positions two guys to look at will be 2013 (W) Justin Moss and 2013 6'7 (PF) Wesley Brown.

All these guys will put in major work over the spring/summer to improve their games. Wesley Brown, Darian Bostic, Justin Moss and Napoleon Onyeje will all play on the same team for the Texas D1 Ambassadors this spring/summer.

The wild card for The Ville will be the role that heir apparent to Mitchell, 2013 PG T.J. Williams will play. He's got great court vision and could really free Mitchell up to score even more than normal.

Earlier in the day I was in Austin watching the 4 team public school scrimmages involving Pflugerville, Pflugerville Hendrickson, Austin Lanier & Killeen Ellison.

Pflugerville was the clear winner. Coach Mike Murphy just reloads every season in what has to be the Cen Tex's richest talent base. Everyone knows about 2011 G Deon Mitchell (Northern Iowa). He'll get senior help from 6'5" W Cameron Blue & 6'5" move in Shabazz Muhammad & high energy G Darian Dempsey. However, what caught my eye was the crew of 2013 sophomores that will be in the wings for the Panthers in the coming years.

2013 PG T.J. Williams, a real smoothie will be the understudy to Mitchell while W Justin Moss also brings energy & shooting ability to the party. 2013 G Darian Bostic, 2013 G Napoleon Oneyeje & 2013 WG Chris Rodgers could all be varsity contributors at most of the schools in the area but will likely ply their trade at the JV level this season rather than sit at the end of the loaded Panthers bench.

Pflugerville Hendrickson has a D1 player in WG Jalen Washington and another quality senior in G Jalen Harris. Washington had given his verbal to Mount St. Mary's in the Northeast Conference last week but has since reconsidered and will wait until the April signing period. If he continues to improve his handles and revs his engine then he moves up the ladder to the higher end mid majors.

What I've been most impressed about with Brown is his attentiveness to being coached, and to learn the craft of being a big man. With his superior academics he will likely be a high academic candidate, perhaps even Ivy League quality. A hard worker, he's shown tremendous strides in improvement. ATX2013 Competes in Kansas

The ATX2013 team coached by David King and Leonard Allen traveled to Wichita, KS August 5-8 to compete in a National Tournament. The tournament had teams from 13 states.

ATX2013 started pool play against the Kansas JBBA Force squad. The team was talented and had very good outside shooters. However the inside game of Leonard Allen was too much for the Kansas squad. The 6'10 (C) out of Round Rock High School dominated with 18 points, 13 rebounds and 9 blocked shots. There was just no answer for his length inside. (SG) Adrian Williams out of Pflugerville Connally High also scored in double digits with 12 for the game.

ATX2013 played their 2nd pool game the same night against the St. Louis Hawks. The Hawks were no match for ATX as they cruised to a 51-33 win. The scoring from ATX was pretty balanced and everyone made very good contributions. (SG) Josh King out of Pflugerville Hendrickson High led all scorers with 12 points. 6'10 (C) Leornard Allen out of Round Rock High led the team in rebounding with 8, while 6'6 (PF) Wesley Brown out of Pflugerville Hendrickson High led the team in blocked shots with 7. Defensive specialist (PG) Jay Byrd out of Pflugerville High led the team in steals with 4, while grabbing 7 rebounds from the guard position.

ATX2013 would finish pool play the next day and go right into bracket play the same day. Their 3rd game would be against the Arkansas Hurricanes. ATX would again cruise to a lopsided 53-36 victory as 6'10 (C) Leonard Allen would have another very good overall game with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 5 blocks with a team leading 25 minutes of play. (W) Aaron McDaniel out of Pflugerville High and (PG) Cory Scott out of Copperas Cove would both score in double figures with 10 and 11 points respectively.

After winning their pool, bracket play started with ATX2013 as they faced the Wichita Tarheels. The Tarheels were no match for ATX as ATX cruised to a 59-36 win. (PG) Cory Scott led all scorers with 14 points while (C) Leonard Allen grabbed 16 rebounds and had 5 blocked shots. (PF) Wesley Brown made very good contributions in areas other than scoring, he had 9 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks.

In the 2nd bracket game ATX2013 met up with the Missouri Rock. This was an exciting back and fourth game as the Rock tried to use their quickness to overcome ATX's size and length. This strategy had limited success as ATX big men demonstrated that they were not only long but just as quick. (SG) Josh King out of Pflugerville Hendrickson High got hot early and never cooled off, leading the team in scoring with 17 points. 6'10 (C) Leonard Allen led the team in rebounds with 13 and blocks with 5. 6'6 (PF) Wesley Brown out of Pflugerville Hendrickson High had 8 points, 5 rebounds and 2 blocks, however the stats really doesn't tell the story of his contribution in this game. He played some of the best interior defense of the tournament, locking down the Rock's 6'6 250 pound big man. His defense was a game changer as ATX won a close one 72-69.

The 3rd bracket game was ATX2013's fourth game of the day. Even for 15 year olds, playing 4 games in one day takes it's toll. They ran up against an Oklahoma Suns team that was only on their 2nd game of the day. Clearly the fresher legs of the Oklahoma team prevailed as ATX kept it close for the first half, but could not muster enough energy to pull it out. They ended up losing 49-64.

This was the last tournament of a very successful spring/summer season for ATX2013. Look to see the names of these young men on JV and Varsity teams in the area, as they turn their focus to the upcoming high school season.

ATX2013 Takes Championship in Local Austin Tournament

This past weekend ATX2013, coached by David King and Leonard Allen, competed in a local Austin, Tx. Varsity tournament and dominated!

ATX2013, a team of Sophomores, went 4-0 (with one game being won by forfeit) winning by an average of 20 points and brought home the championship trophy. ATX2013 played well managed and controlled games as they refrained from shooting a lot of 3's and instead went into their big men early and often throughout the tournament. It was a well coached game!

The first game was against the Playerz and ATX won 59-39. An athletic team without a lot of size, however they were strong and fast. ATX's inside/out game plan worked perfectly as 6'4 (PF)Andrew Hill out of Pflugerville Connally High had a coming out party. He put up a team high 16 points while grabbing 7 rebounds. (SG)Josh King out of Pflugerville Hendrickson High also had a very nice overall game with 8 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and (SG)Adrian Williams out of Pflugerville Connally High came in with 11 points. Top defender (PG)Jay Byrd out of Pflugerville High had 3 steals.

The second game was against the Cougars and ATX won 57-35. Again the inside/out strategy was perfect as 6'10 (C)Leonard Allen had a team high 12 points while also leading the team with 11 rebounds and 5 blocks. (SF)Aaron McDaniel out of Pflugerville High had 11 points. The most impressive stat were the 20 assists. (SG)Josh King had 7 assists and (PG)Cory Scott had 6 assists.

ATX2013 met up with the Playerz again for the championship and the result was pretty much the same. ATX2013 won 45-25 in a blow out. Once again the inside strategy was perfect as the big men 6'10 (C) Leonard Allen, 6'6 (PF/C)Wesley Brown out of Pflugerville Hendrickson High and 6'4 (PF)Andrew Hill combined for 20 points. Wesley Brown, after missing the 2nd game, rejoined the team and led the team in rebounding with 8, while (SG)Josh King and (PG)Isaak Gonzalez out of Pflugerville Hendrickson High had 4 assists each.

This was a good warm-up tournament as ATX2013 will hit the road this week to Kansas for their last tournament of the season. If they stick to utilizing their strength inside, they should do very well.

LBJ Austin Tournament

Over the weekend Coach Gene Whitmire (Asst. Coach for the Texas D1 Ambassadors 2013 Team Bostic) put together a team that consisted of a majority of the Texas D1 Ambassadors 2013 Team Bostic squad, to compete in a local Austin, Tx. Varsity tournament at LBJ High.

Members from the D1 Ambassadors who competed were as follows: 5'9 (PG)Darian Bostic, 5'10 (SG)Napoleon Onyeje, 6'0 (F)Justin Moss all out of Pflugerville High School. 6'6 (PF/C)Wesley Brown out of Pflugerville Hendrickson High School and 6'4 (PF/C)Kyle Wurzel out of Austin St. Michael's Catholic Academy.

The improvement in these guys game was obvious. (PG)Darian Bostic did an excellent job running and controlling the offense, taking and hitting open 3's while (SG)Napoleon Onyeje played great on the ball defense. (F)Justin Moss was his usual self as he ran the floor and got to the basketball with ease. (PF/C)Kyle Wurzel banged inside on the boards while showing some range from the outside and (PF/C)Wesley Brown controlled the boards, blocked shots and displayed nice post moves when he got the ball.

The team competed very well going 2-2 and taking 2nd place in the tournament. The team lost the championship to an LBJ Varsity squad that had to bring in additional players in order to compete. Coach Whitmire's team was also without 6'6 (PF/C)Wesley Brown for the championship game.

ATX 2013 at Primetime Nationals

The weekend of July 22nd the ATX2013 team traveled to the Dallas, Texas area to compete in the Primetime Sports Nationals. ATX2013 would have their earliest exit from a tournament so far this spring/summer.

ATX2013 started the tournament against the Dallas Flyboys 2012. This was a hard fought, back and forth game against a very physical and athletic Dallas Flyboys 2012 squad. ATX2013 ended up losing this close game by 6.

6'6 (C/F) Wesley Brown out of Pflugerville Hendrickson High School had the best overall game with 8 points, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks. 6'4 (F) Andrew Hill out of Pflugerville Connally High School had a team leading 12 rebounds and 5 blocks.

The second game was against the Pearland Panthers. Although ATX2013 started out slow, they were able to take care of the Panthers rather easily, beating them 71-50.

5'11 (PG) Cory Scott out of Copperas Cove lit up the scoreboard with 20 points and also added 5 rebounds and 3 assists. 6'0 (SG) Josh King out of Pflugerville Henderson High was right there with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists. The big men 6'6 (C/F) Wesley Brown out of Pflugerville Hendrickson High and 6'4 (F) Andrew Hill out of Pflugerville Connally High put up solid numbers. Wesley had 7 points, 4 rebounds and Andrew 8 rebounds and 4 blocks.

The third game matched ATX2013 against the A-State Tornadoes from Arkansas. This was another very athletic and scrappy team. This game really showed the poise and grit of the ATX2013 squad as they were down by 18 at the half and came back to win the game by 1.

6'10 (C) Leonard Allen out of Round Rock High School re-joined the team after missing the first two games with a stellar performance. He had 8 points, 16 rebounds and 5 blocks. The other big guys made very good contributions also with 6'5 (C) Tanner Thrift out of Hutto High School pulling down 5 rebounds and having 4 blocks. 6'6 (C/F) Wesley Brown out of Pflugerville Hendrickson High also had 5 rebounds and 4 blocks. 6'0 (SG) Josh King out Pflugerville Hendrickson High chipped in 8 points, but more importantly had 4 assists.

In the fourth game ATX2013 came out flat and never recovered. The Memphis Cobras used their energy and speed to jump all over ATX2013 in the first 5 minutes of the game. Although ATX2013 had the size advantage, they did not do a good job getting the ball to their "bigs" resulting in a very uncharacteristic lopsided defeat.

ATX2013 will have a local warm-up tournament the weekend of July 30th, before heading to Kansas on August 5th - 9th.

GASO Duncanville Update

This past weekend, Duncanville, Tx. hosted the Great American Shootout event which attracted over 250 college coaches and some very competitive teams. There were three divisions, the top NBA Division, the mid NCAA Division and the Lower NIT Division.

Some of the top teams in the NBA Division were the Dallas Mustangs (Champions of the NBA Blue Division), Houston Select (Champions of the NBA Red Division), San Antonio Rohawks (2nd place in NBA Blue Division), ATX Elite (2nd place in NBA Red Division). A couple of the other top NBA Division teams were the Houston Hoops Elite and the Texas D1 Ambassadors Elite.

The middle , NCAA Division also had some extremely competitive teams, a lot of them at the Varsity level. One of the more competitive teams were the ATX 2013 squad Coached by David King. The 15U ATX 2013 team were able to go deep into bracket play, in this higher division, before losing a very close game against the Urban DFW Elite. The game went down to the wire and ATX 2013 lost on a last second jumper.

Overall ATX 2013 went 3-3 in the tournament losing by an average of 4 points. The entire ATX 2013 team played hard and with a lot of energy throughout the tournament. Some of the top performances were:

6'10 (C) Leonard Allen out of Round Rock High School averaged 8 points, 11 rebounds and 7 blocks. 6'0 (SG) Josh King out of Pflugerville Hendrickson High School averaged 10 points. 5'9 (PG) Jay Byrd out of Pflugerville High School used his quickness to play some great on the ball defense.

6'6 (PF/C) Wesley Brown out of Pflugerville Hendrickson High School made his debut with ATX 2013 after completing his season with the Texas D1 Ambassadors 2013 Team Bostic. With limited practice and not the normal minutes he played with the D1 Ambassadors, Wesley was still able to make a nice contribution. He averaged 2 points, 4 rebounds and 2 blocks.

The lower NIT Division hosted the majority of the 15U teams. Overall it was a great tournament and a tremendous showcase of talent.

H-Town Classic Bracket Play

The Texas D1 Ambassadors 2013 Team Bostic were eliminated in bracket play last night, losing to a very fundamentally sound Gulf Coast team at the Houston Hoops H-Town Classic. Team Bostic came out flat and would never recover as the Gulf Coast team played with more energy and hustle.

Team Bostic finished 1-3 overall in the tournament losing two of the three games by a total of 3 points.

The Texas D1 Ambassadors 2013 Team Bostic completed pool play tonight at the Houston Hoops H-Town Classic going 1-1.

The first game was against Team Airforce 1. This was a hard fought, back and forth game with multiple lead changes throughout. Team Bostic would end up losing this game 45-48. The main nemesis for Team Bostic was the free throw line. Team Bostic shot a less than admirable 10 for 27 at the stripe. If they make half of the 17 missed free throws, they easily walk away with a victory.

(SG) Will Coleman out of Pflugerville Hendrickson High School led the scoring for Team Bostic with 15 points. (PG) Darian Bostic out of Pflugerville High School did an excellent job controlling the floor, running the offense and distributing the ball. He had 6 points and 5 assists. (F) Justin Moss out of Pflugerville High School and (PF/C) Wesley Brown out of Pflugerville Hendrickson High School did an excellent job on the boards. Justin had 10 rebounds and Wesley had 7 rebounds, while adding 3 points and 2 blocks.

The second game was against Shoot2Score. This was another tough match, however Team Bostic gutted this one out and played the best game of the tournament so far. They won 58-51 and shot 56% from the field.

(F) Justin Moss out of Pflugerville High School had a monster game with 18 points, and 11 rebounds, leading the team in both categories. (SG) Will Coleman out of Pflugerville Hendrickson High came in with another very good scoring effort with 12 points. The defense (PG) Darian Bostic out of Pflugerville High and (SG) Napoleon Onyeje out of Pflugerville High played will not show up in the stats, but they did an incredible job harassing the opposing guards the entire game. (PF/C) Wesley Brown out of Pflugerville Hendrickson High had an off shooting game but still managed to have a team high 4 blocks, playing great interior defense, while chipping in 4 points and grabbing 4 rebounds. The sign of a good ball player is to find other ways to contribute when you can't score the ball.

Team Bostic will start bracket play tomorrow night.

H-Town Summer Classic First Day

The Texas D1 Ambassadors 2013 Team Bostic took the court last night to open up pool play at the Houston Hoops H-Towm Summer Classic Live Event.

Team Bostic started pool play against a very talented Houston Hoops team. Team Bostic controlled the game from the start and had a 9 point lead going into the last 3 minutes. However several crucial turnovers and a terrible foul call with less than a second remaining sealed Team Bostics fate as they lost the opener 43-45.

6'6 (PF/C) Wesley Brown out of Pflugerville Hendrickson High finished with 4 points, 9 rebounds and a team high 5 blocks. 6'0 (F) Justin Moss out of Pflugerville High had a team high 10 points and also had 8 rebounds.

Harvard Elite Camp

Over the weekend of June 26-28....2013 Wesley Brown attended the Harvard University Elite Basketball Camp. This camp was mainly for Juniors and Seniors and Wesley was the youngest in attendance.

The camp attracted some of the best high school talent not only in the country but internationally. The feedback from the coaches at Harvard was that the 6'6 PF/C out of Hendrickson High School not only held his own, but was very impressive. They were really impressed with his athleticism, ability to be coached and learn quickly and his length. They loved his work on the boards, his interior defense and overall hustle and work ethic. They also said he was the "nicest kid at camp :)."

Overall they were very excited about his potential and were very impressed with how he played with the older guys. He played a grueling 7 games in a 48 hour period, averaging 6 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks and 1 steal and never showed any signs of giving up.

This was a great experience for Wesley and he seemed to relish the challenge. Great work!

D-1 Ambassadors Roll in Bastrop

The Texas D-1 Ambassadors 2013 Team Bostic squad took a skeleton crew to the Bastrop tournament over the weekend and went 4-0 to win the JV tournament championship.

Although Team Bostic were missing their big men, they adjusted their style of play and received great hustle from the crew of (PG) Darian Bostic, (PG) Josh Hester, (SG) Will Coleman, (F) Justin Moss and (F) Pierce Felix.

Next up for Team Bostic will be the Houston Hoops H-Town Summer Slam on July 6-8.

PrimeTime Waco

Team Bostic participated in the Primetime event in Waco, Tx. this past weekend. This was a combination Varsity/JV tournament. Team Bostic competed well during pool play on the first day going 2-1, losing in overtime by 3 points to a Texas Admirals team consisting of mostly varsity players.

Day 2 was a bit of a disappointment as Team Bostic went 1-1, losing to a varsity team from Loreno that was clearly not on their level talent wise. However, the team did not show the energy at the defensive end and the Loreno team was very fundamentally sound.

Rising to the Occasion!

This past weekend 6'6 (P) Wesley Brown out of Pflugerville Hendrickson High was invited to play on a select team put together by Tim Williams. This was a team of Freshman playing up at the 17U Varsity level and featured highly ranked 5'8 (PG) TJ Williams out of Pflugerville High. Wesley was only able to play a game and a half with them since he was also busy winning a tournament championship with his 15U team. However he proved that he can play and play very well at the Varsity level.

At 6'6 Wesley is use to being one of the tallest guys on the court at the 15U level, however this wasn't the case at the Varsity level, so he had to adjust his game. Coach Tim did a great job playing him at a Forward position which allowed him a bit more freedom to get involved in the offense.

In just about 12 minutes of play in the game and a half he played, Wesley scored 4 points, including a sweet 17 foot jump shot, had 5 blocks and get this...15 rebounds! Nice work! Wesley took it as a personal challenge to prove he could run with the Varsity guys and he indeed rose to the occasion.

Texas D1 Ambassadors 2013 Team Bostic Dominates in San Antonio

Team Bostic traveled to San Antonio this weekend and brought the first place trophy back home to Austin!

Over the two days, Team Bostic was dominant as a team and there were some outstanding individual performances.

Team Bostic won the first game against the Texas Tigers 47-41. Team Bostic started slow, but picked up the speed in the second half. Leading the charge was 5'10 (SG) Napoleon Onyeje with 12 points, 2 assists and 2 steals.

Napoleon's energy was contagious as 6'0 (F) Justin Moss caught on and dropped 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, followed by 5'9 (PG) Darian Bostic with 9 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals.

6'6 (P) Wesley Brown owned the boards with 8 rebounds while chipping in 2 points.

The second game had Team Bostic beating the S.A Hustlers 54-46. Both 5'9 (PG) Darian Bostic with 18 points, 3 assists and 2 rebounds and 6'6 (P) Wesley Brown with 7 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocked shots had dominating performances.

Team Bostic continued their dominance in the third game beating the S.A Falcons 41-32. 6'0 (F) Justin Moss was awesome with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 steals. 5'9 (SG) Will Coleman had a coming out party also with 8 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals. The stats doesn't do his energy and effort justice.

The Championship game was more of the same as Team Bostic met up with the Texas Tigers again and the result was no different from the first time. Team Bostic won 40-33 in another great performance.

5'10 Napoleon Onyeje had the most efficient game with 12 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals. 6'0 Justin Moss continued to light it up with 15 points and adding 7 rebounds. 5'9 (SG) Darian Bostic was a great floor general contributing 6 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds and 2 steals.

6'6 Wesley Brown out of Pflugerville Hendrickson High was again the most dominant big man on the floor with 10 rebounds and 2 blocks, while chipping in 4 points.

Team Bostic "Summer Prep Showcase" Update II

Sunday ended quickly for Team Bostic at the Houston Hoops "Summer Prep Showcase" as they lost the first game in bracket play.

Team Bostic played Basketball University and lost 46-48 in double overtime. Crucial turnovers, difficulty stopping dribble penetration and not controlling the boards turned what should have been a blow out victory for Team Bostic into a down to the wire loss.

Team Bostic will now turn their attention to a tough week of practice and the integration of a couple of new players.

Team Bostic "Summer Prep Showcase" Update

Team Bostic had a very successful day winning both games to take first place in pool play.

Team Bostic won the first game 48-34 against the Houston Cowboys Red Team. The team started out slow as they labored through a very low scoring first half. However they woke up in the second half and dominated the Houston team.

(F) Justin Moss led all scorers with 20 points. Justin just seems to be in the right place at the right time. (SG) Josh Hester had a very good overall game with 6 points, 3 assists and 4 steals. TJ Williams, a 5'8 highly touted (PG) out of Pflugerville High School was critical in helping to control the flow of the offense. He had 7 points and 5 assists while teaming with (PG) Darian Bostic who chipped in 3 points and 3 assists. These two guys make a dynamic back court!

Big men (P) Kyle Wurzel and (P) Wesley Brown did a great job controlling the boards. Kyle had 5 rebounds and a block. Wesley had 3 rebounds and a block, however his hustle was incredible. He played good defense while constantly diving on the floor for loose balls.

Team Bostic won the second game 61-55 against the Gonzales (Texas) Heat. Gonzales was small but super fast. Coach Bostic did not get sucked into trying to play small ball against them. He exploited their weakness and used his team's size and length to pull out the victory. Great coaching!

The big men played a crucial role as (P) Wesley Brown used his 6'6 frame and his length to frustrate Gonazales. He had 8 points, 6 rebounds and 4 blocked shots. (P) Kyle Wurzel helped dominate the boards with 8 rebounds while (F) Justin Moss continued to play well with 8 points and 5 rebounds. (F) Pierce Felix rounded it out with 4 boards.

The guards were impressive. (PG) TJ Williams led the way with 15 points, 2 assists and 2 steals. (SG) Napoleon Onyeje was so smooth while putting up 12 points, 2 assists and 3 rebounds. (SG) Josh Hester was consistently solid overall with 8 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds and 3 steals while (PG) Darian Bostic was again steady working with TJ to control the flow while chipping in 5 points and 2 assists.

The team shot an impressive 46% from the field and 86% from the free throw line.

Team Bostic will start bracket play on Sunday.

Tournament Update

Team Bostic will travel to the Houston, Tx. area this weekend to compete in the Houston Hoops "Summer Prep Showcase."

Team Bostic will start play on Saturday morning at 11:10am against the Houston Cowboys Red Team. They will then play at 3:30pm against Team Gonzales Heat. Bracket play will follow on Saturday evening and Sunday.

All games will be played at Katy High School in Katy, Tx.

High School Accomplishments

This week both Pflugerville Hendrickson High School and Pflugerville High School had their basketball banquets. Both of the Freshman "A" Teams had incredible seasons. These teams were led by members of the Texas D1 Ambassadors 2013 - Team Bostic squad.

Pflugerville Hendrickson High Freshman A Team finished with a 25-2 record and went undefeated in 4A district play. This team had the most wins and the best record of any Freshman Team in Hendrickson's history. Team Bostic players leading this effort were 6'6 (P)Wesley Brown and 5'9 (SG)Josh Hester.

Pflugerville High School Freshman A team finished with a 27-3 record and went undefeated in 5A district play. Team Bostic players leading this effort were 5'9 (PG)Darian Bostic, 5'10 (SG)Napoleon Onyeje and 6'0 (F)Justin Moss.

Congratulations to these young men for their contributions and accomplishments!

Next Level Ballers Tournament Update

This past weekend Team Bostic traveled to the Dallas/Plano area to compete in the Next Level Ballers Tournament. There were a ton of talented 15U teams there. Team Bostic finish 3rd in the mid-Silver bracket with a 3-2 record. Here's the recap:

The first game was against the Kingdom Hoops from Iowa. They were probably the most talented 15U team at the tournament. Both teams played even for most of the first half, however Team Kingdom Hoops turned it on in the second half and handed Team Bostic a pretty good thumping. Enough said.

Team Bostic bounced back nicely in the 2nd game against Team RISE from Rockwall, Texas. Team RISE didn't know what hit them as Team Bostic took out their frustrations from the first lost on them. Team Bostic won 61-32. Everyone contributed to this victory. (F/W)Justin Moss led the action with a very good overall game. He had 16 points, 6 rebounds and 2 blocks. (SG)Will Coleman also came up big with 12 points, 3 rebounds and 2 steals.

(PG)Darian Bostic did a great job running the offense and distributing the ball. He came in with 10 points, 5 assists and 2 steals. (SG)Napoleon Onyeje had 5 points, 6 assists and 5 rebounds.(SG)Josh Hester chipped in 2 points and 1 steal.

The 3rd game was much of the same as Team Bostic continued their roll and beat the Austin Dawgs 54-36. (SG)Napoleon Onyeje was awesome putting up 12 points, 4 assists, 3 rebounds and 6 steals. (F/W)Justin Moss continued his great play with 12 points and 6 rebounds.

Team Bostic kept the pressure on in the 3rd game against a very athletic Team Select, winning 61-36. (F/W)Justin Moss lit it up again with 16 points and 8 rebounds. (SG)Will Coleman was very good also with 14 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals. (SG)Napoleon Onyeje had 8 points, 2 rebounds and 3 steals.

Game 5 was against a tough, talented and athletic Team Next Generation. Team Bostic lost a close one 46-47. This was a hard fought, back and forth game and could have gone either way. (C/P)Wesley Brown played some of the best post defense in the tournament. He had 5 blocked shots, altered many shots around the basket and 6 rebounds while almost totally shutting down any man he guarded. (SG)Napoleon Onyeje led the scoring with 18 points. (PG)Darian Bostic not only did a great job controlling the tempo of the games, but played the best on the ball defense so far while chipping in 8 points. (F/W)Justin Moss also had 8 points.

This tournament was clearly a coming out for Team Bostic. They came together as a team and played the best basketball so far this spring!

Team Bostic back at it

After placing 2nd in the D1 Bluebonnet Classic on April 10th, the Texas D1 Ambassador's 2013 Team Bostic squad took this past weekend off...well somewhat. The team did go through a grueling workout over the weekend and did not touch a basketball. They were pushed to their physical and mental limits as they went through a series of upper and lower body circuit training drills. This is an example of some of the great things Coach Bostic is doing to get these young men to the next level. Great job!

This weekend Team Bostic is back on the hardwood as they take their first trip out of the Austin area. They will travel to Plano Texas (in the Dallas area) to compete in the Next Level Ballers National Tournament.

Team Bostic will play their first game on Saturday 4/24 at 9:15am and their 2nd game on the same day at 2:15pm. Both games will be played at the IAD (Integrated Athletic Development Complex) in Carrollton, Tx.

MAYB RAWL Gold Bracket Championship

The Texas D1 Ambassador's 2013 Team Bostic squad lost 63-60 to the SV Rangers in a close and hard fought battle in the MAYB RAWL Gold Bracket Championship on Sunday. Team Bostic's 2 big men (P)Wesley Brown and (P)Kyle Wurzel fouled out, along with (F)Justin Moss. Wesley and Justin had a combined 10 points and 7 rebounds, so this left the team with a huge gap in the middle.

The guards carried the scoring load with (PG)Darian Bostic and (SG)Napoleon Onyeje putting up 16 a piece. However lack of "on the ball" defense and a few questionable calls really hurt Team Bostic.

Overall this tournament was a great learning experience for both the players and the coaches as they continue to define and understand their roles and learn to play better together.

MAYB RAWL Update

The Texas D1 Ambassador's 2013 Team Bostic squad started pool play on Friday. The boys hopefully learned a very valuable lesson that defense is the key to winning basketball games. Team Bostic played uninspired defense resulting in a 1-2 record, losing 2 games by 1 point each against the Austin Wildcats and the Elgin Ballers. The team was able to pull out a victory against the SV Rangers and fall into the Gold bracket for Saturday's bracket play.

After a "pep" talk from Coach Maxx, Team Bostic went undefeated in bracket play on Saturday. They had convincing wins over Team Chile and the San Marcos Texas Blue Devils while winning a very close one over Team Japan to complete the sweep. Team Bostic shot over 50% from the field and hit 90% of their free throws over the three games.

This weekend, April 2-4, the Texas D-1 Ambassador's 2013 Team Bostic squad will take their 2-1 record into the MAYB RAWL International tournament in Buda, Texas. There will be teams competing from countries like Mexico, Japan and Norway, to name a few.

Team Bostic continues to fine tune their high octane offense as they learn how to play with the newer members, the Big men 6'5 (P)Wesley Brown and 6'4 (P)Kyle Wurzel. They've had very intense and competitive practices over the past two weeks and look ready to go!

This should be a great test for Team Bostic and a good measuring stick for where they stand on the international stage!

Texas Super Showcase I - Team Bostic

The Texas D-1 Ambassador's 2013 - Team Bostic participated in their first tournament of the spring/summer, the D1 Texas Super Showcase I in Austin, Tx., with an impressive performance. Team Bostic grabbed a 3rd place finish in the JV bracket.

The first game was against Team Battley. Team Bostic crushed Team Battley 68 t0 25. (F) Justin Moss led all scorers with 15 points and had a great overall game with 7 rebounds and 3 blocks. (SG) Napoleon Onyeje and (PG) David Hernandez also had great overall games. Napolean had 10 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals, while David had 8 points, 4 steals and 7 assists. (PG) Darian Bostic came in with 13 points and (SG) Will Coleman had 7 points.

The big men Played very well as Team Bostic had a huge advantage inside in all 3 games. (P) Wesley Brown led the team in rebounding with 11 boards, while chipping in 5 points and (P) Kyle Wurzel had 10 points and 6 rebounds. (F) Pierce Felix provided some nice hustle.

Game two was hands down the most exciting game as Team Bostic ran up against a team of Sophomores coached by T.J Garza. Garza's team won 67 to 66 in a game that went down to the final second.

(PG) Darian Bostic and (F) Justin Moss led the scoring with 19 points a piece. Justin also grabbed 7 team leading rebounds while Darian led an assault from the 3 point line. (PG)David Hernandez had 13 points and continued his giving mood with several assists. (SG) Will Coleman had 10 points and 4 steals while (P) Wesley Brown had a team leading 4 blocks and pulled down 6 rebounds including a critical final second offensive rebound that gave Team Bostic the chance to win the game.

There were some very questionable calls that had a detrimental impact on this game for Team Bostic. In any event, the guys played their hearts out!

In game three, Team Bostic took their frustrations out with a 70-50 win.

Although (F) Justin Moss again led all scorers with 19 points while grabbing 6 rebounds, (SG) Napoleon Onyeje had a great overall game with 7 points, 4 assists, 4 steals and 5 rebounds. (PG)Darian Bostic also had a very good overall game with 11 points, 2 steals and 3 assists. (PG) David Hernandez only scored 4 points, but ditched out a team leading 9 assists! While (SG) Will Coleman was consistently good in putting up 12 points.

The big men were dominate again with (P) Kyle Wurzel coming in with 12 points and 7 rebounds and (P) Wesley Brown coming in with a team leading 12 rebounds and 3 blocked shots, while chipping in 4 points.

Team Bostic Upcoming Tourny's

The Texas D1 Ambassador's 2013 - Team Bostic squad will open up tournament play this weekend (March 20th), participating in the D1 Ambassador's Texas Super Showcase I at Akins High School in Austin, Tx. Team Bostic will play their first game at 10:10am and their second game at 3:35pm.

The squad will then participate in the MAYB RAWL International Tournament in Austin, Tx., starting March 31st. Schedules to follow...stay tuned!

Just in case you missed the earlier blog introducing this talented squad, here is a re-post of the players you'll see this weekend...

#10 Darian Bostic is a 5'8 silky smooth Point Guard out of Pflugerville High School. He can play the 1 or 2 due to excellent ball handling skills, incredible quickness off the dribble and unlimited shooting range. He can really get after it on the defensive end.

#0 Napoleon Onyeje is a 5'10 Shooting Guard out of Pflugerville High School. There's not a shot on the floor he can't take. His handles are exceptional and he's super quick going to the basket. He has a great overall game.

#1 William Coleman is a 5'7 Shooting Guard out of Pflugerville Hendrickson High School with superb hops. You can not leave him alone above the arc because he can drain 3's all day.

#2 Josh Hester is a 5'8 Shooting Guard out of Pflugerville Hendrickson High School. He's deceptively quick and has a great mid to long range shot. Defensively he can pick off several steals in the blink of an eye.

#12 Justin Moss is a 6'0 Forward out of Pflugerville High School. He can run the floor with the best of them and can finish at the rim with either hand. At 6 feet he can play with the big men in the middle or run with the guards.

#15 Pierce Felix is a 5'11 Forward from Pflugerville Hendrickson High School. He's a big body that can bang in the middle, but also have a decent touch from mid-range.

#13 Kyle Wurzel is a 6'4 Post from Austin's St. Michael's Academy. He's currently the only one not from the Pflugerville area. He's a big man that can bang and rebound under the basket yet he's very skilled offensively and can get to the rim.

#34 Wesley Brown is a 6'5 Post from Pflugerville Hendrickson High. He's long and can wreak havoc defensively. He's a great rebounder and shot blocker who loves to play at or above the rim. Offensively he's developed a very good mid-range jumper and smooth post moves.

The Head Coach is Reginald Bostic and he is assisted by Gene Whitmire.

Team Bostic attended the D1-Ambassador's All-American Prodigy Camp over the weekend. It was two long days and the guys did a very good job on the individual drills and scrimmages.

The Texas D-1 Ambassadors 2013 - Team Bostic squad is ready to kick-off an exciting spring/summer. They will attend the All-American Prodigy Camp on March 13th/14th and start tournament play the weekend of March 20th.

This team is loaded with talent and will be exciting to watch! Here is the roster:

The team consists of mostly Pflugerville area boys from Hendrickson and Pflugerville High Schools. Stay tuned for roster reviews coming soon.

Pflugerville Hendrickson 78 Lampassas 53

The Pflugerville Hendrickson Freshman "A" team completed one of the best seasons ever on Tuesday night by going 25-2 overall and undefeated in district taking the District 25, 4A Championship!

(PG)David Hernandez went out with a bang with a great overall game of 21 points, leading all scorers and 6 steals. (PG)Isaak Gonzales also had a great overall game with 14 points, 9 steals and 6 assists.

(C/P)Wesley Brown dominated the boards with a team leading 10 rebounds and 2 blocked shots.

The most important stat of the season, however, goes to the entire Hawk team and that stat is 10-0, which is their district record! Congratulations Freshman Hawks! This was a special team and we're all looking forward to great things from these young men both Athletically and Academically in the years to come.

Pflugerville Hendrickson 84 Killeen 37

The Hendrickson Freshman "A" team went to Killeen on Friday night and hammered a very athletic Killeen team. Hendrickson also beat Marble Falls on Tuesday night continuing their mission to stay undefeated in Distric play.

(SG)Josh King had a tremendous overall game by leading all scorers with 19 points while adding 5 steals, 3 assists and 3 rebounds. (W)Kalen Pendergrass was right with him with 18 points, 2 steals, 2 assists and 2 rebounds. They both lit it up from the 3 point line shooting 57% and 67% respectively.

A great game isn't and shouldn't always be measured by the amount of points scored. (SG)Josh Hester proved that, while scoring only 9 points, he also had 5 assists, 5 steals and 4 rebounds. Hustle doesn't show up on the stat sheets, but if it did the big man (C/P)Wesley Brown would be near the top. He was all over the floor deflecting passes and altering shots. He helped dominate the boards with 7 rebounds and also had 3 steals and 2 blocked shots. (F/P)Kofi Asante was the other half of the inside dominance with 7 boards, 2 steals and 3 blocked shots.

(W/F)Trey Guiterrez, (PG)Isaak Gonzalez, (PG)David Hernandez, (PG)Chris McDaniel and (F/P)Chase Holtzedorf all showed tremendous effort on defense while contributing many hustle plays.

One more win against Lampassas next Tuesday and the Freshman "A" team could pull off one of the most successful seasons in Hendrickson's history.

Pflugerville Hendrickson 52 Lake Travis 40

This game surely met the expectations. The top two Freshmen teams in the district battled Friday night and Hendrickson was able to pull out a convincing 52-40 win with tough defense and patience on offense.

(W/F)Trey Guiterrez led all scorers and was the only Hawk in double figures with 11 points and also led the team with 3 steals. (C/P)Wesley Brown controlled the boards with a team leading 8 rebounds, altered many shots around the basket and had a team leading 2 blocks.

(W)Kalen Pendergrass added 9 points while (SG)Josh King and (PG)David Hernandez chipped in 7 a piece.

This one was tough from the tip and both teams played hard-nosed basketball. Great game!

Pflugerville Hendrickson 72 Hutto 21

The Pflugerville Hendrickson Freshman "A" team continued their undefeated district run Tuesday at home with a 72 to 21 win over Hutto. Every Hawk contributed to this lopsided victory.

(SG)Josh King led all scorers with 18 points; he also had 4 assists and 4 steals. (PG)Isaak Gonzales also had a great overall game with 13 points, 7 steals and 5 rebounds.

(W/F)Trey Guiterrez had a season high 11 points and also grabbed 5 boards. (SG)Josh Hester and (F/P)Kofi Asante rounded out the double digit scoring with 11 points and 10 points respectively while Kofi grabbed a team high 8 rebounds.

No matter the line up Hendrickson had on the floor, Hutto had no answer. Hendrickson will be tested Friday night as they go up against the only district team that has given them a challenge so far this year...Lake Travis.

Pflugerville Hendrickson 75 Lampasas 25

Just another day in the office for the Hendrickson Freshman "A" team. They cruised to a crushing 50 point victory Friday night at Lampasas and "badgered" the Badgers all night!

(PG)David Hernandez and (SG) Josh King led the scoring with 13 points a piece, while (PG)Isaak Gonzales and (PG) Chris McDaniel came in with 10 points and 9 points respectively. As you can see the guards took most of the shots but the big man, (C/P)Wesley Brown didn't let them have all the fun. He dominated the boards with 9 rebounds and was intimidating defensively with 3 blocked shots, while chipping in 6 points. (SG)Josh Hester was the biggest thief of the night matching his season high with 6 steals and also chipping in 6 points.

Beginning Tuesday night Hendrickson will re-play all their District opponents. If they keep this kind of intensity up over the next 5 games, they will be on their way to becoming District champs!

Pflugerville Hendrickson 74 Killeen 41

The Hendrickson Freshman "A" Team had another good outing Tuesday night as they scorched Killeen.

(W)Kalen Pendergrass lit up the scoreboard again with 22 points. (PG)Isaak Gonzalez and (SG) Josh King both came in with good overall games. Josh had 12 points 7 steals and 4 assist and Isaak had 12 points and 8 steals. (PF/C)Kofi Asante was also solid with 9 points and 10 rebounds.

Hendrickson stumbled out of the gate but was able to get back on their game late in the first half and went on cruise control in the second half.

Pflugerville Hendrickson 86 Marble Falls 37

The Pflugerville Hendrickson Hawks Freshman "A" Team remained undefeated in district play with an impressive showing Friday night against Marble Falls. Marble Falls just did not have answers for Hendrickson's swarming defense and high powered offense.

Hendrickson had a total of 25 steals and 28 rebounds...very impressive!

(W)Kalen Pendergrass led all scorers with 27 points. He also had 4 steals 2 rebounds and 2 assists. What a game! (SG) Josh King and (PG) David Hernandez both had 13 points and 5 Assists. Josh pulled down 4 boards and had 4 steals, while David chipped in with 3 steals and 2 boards.

(PF/C)Chase Holtzendorf was big last night with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Five of those were on the offensive boards. (SG)Josh Hester was in a giving mood with 7 big assists. (W/PF)Trey Guiterrez contributed 8 points and (PG) Chris McDaniel came in with 9 points. Both (PG)Isaak Gonzales and (C)Wesley Brown had solid defensive efforts. Isaak had 4 steals and 3 rebounds and Wesley had 4 steals and a season high 4 blocks.

Pflugerville Hendrickson 59 Lake Travis 51

Wow! This was a hard fought battle and the refs let them play. The energy and hustle was excellent from the entire Hendrickson team.

The game started fast and furious and never let up. There were moments where Hendrickson looked like they would pull away but Lake Travis kept fighting back. Hendrickson had a huge advantage in the post and was finally able to exploit it.

(SG)Josh King led all scorers with another very good overall performance. He had 11 points, 4 rebounds, 5 Assist, 3 steals and 3 blocks..nice! (C)Wesley Brown was intimidating inside and also produced an excellent overall performance with 10 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals. The floor general (PG)David Hernandez dazzled the crowd with his handles and came in with 10 points, 3 assists and 4 steals.

(PF/C)Kofi Asante with 8 points and 7 rebounds added to the dominance inside, while (SG)Josh Hester, (PG)Isaak Gonzalez, (W)Trey Gutierrez, (PG)Chris McDaniel, (PF/C)Chase Holtzendorf and (W)Kalen Pendergrass great efforts contributed to a tough win.

The score pretty much told the story in Hendrickson's Friday night thrashing of Hutto. Hendrickson dominated from beginning to end and Hutto just didn't have an answer for all the talent on the floor.

(PF/C)Kofi Asante had a monster game with 18 points and 15 rebounds, leading all in both categories. (SG)Josh King continues to put up great numbers with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 8 big steals, while (W/PF)Trey Guiterrez put in very good work with 9 points, 3 rebounds and 4 steals.

The other statistical leaders were (C)Wesley Brown with 11 rebounds, continuing his dominance on the boards, and 6 points. (PG)Isaak "the ball hawk" gonzalez had 6 steals, with 5 points and (PG)Chris McDaniel had 4 steals and 5 points.

This team is so deep, the hits just kept coming Friday night. (W)Kalen Pendergrass had 7 points and 2 steals, (SG)Josh Hester had 4 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals, (PF/C)Chase Holtzendorf had 3 points and 4 rebounds and the floor general (PF)David Hernandez had 3 points and 3 steals.

Fortunately for Hutto, Hendrickson missed some layups and a ton of free throws...this could have gotten ugly.

Pflugerville Hendrickson 80 Manor 54

Although Henrickson put 80 points on the board on Tuesday night, this game was all about defense...Hendrickson's defense.

(PG)Isaak "the ball hawk" Gonzales was a pest all night coming up with 5 steals. However that doesn't give a full picture of how crucial his defensive effort was. Once again he frustrated the opposing guards and disrupted the flow of their game. (SG)Josh King was also all over the floor, picking up 4 steals in a stellar defensive effort. Controlling the boards were (C)Wesley Brown with 8 rebounds and 2 blocked shots, (PF/C)Kofi Asante with 7 rebounds and (PF/C)Chase Holtzendorf with 5 rebounds. The tough defensive play became contagious and the rest of the team picked up the effort.

Offensively, (W)Kalen Pendergrass was huge with 17 points, however it didn't stop there. (PG)Isaak Gonzales and (SG)Josh King both came in with 14 points, while (PG)David Hernandez and (PF/C)Kofi Asante rounded out the double digit scoring with 10 points each. (W)Trey Guiterrez, (PG)Chris McDaniel and (SG)Josh Hester had good efforts on both ends.

Overall, another great game from the Pflugerville Hendrickson Hawks!

Pflugerville Hendrickson 74 St. Michaels 51

The Pflugerville Hendrickson Freshman "A" team came out of the winter break as strong as they went into the break with an impressive win over St. Michaels.

There was great balance in the offense as the guards and wings controlled the tempo and the big men dominated the boards. The guard/wing standouts were (SG) Josh King with 14 points 7 rebounds and 3 steals, a great overall game. (W) Will Coleman added 15 points and 4 steals. (SG) Josh Hester had 8 point and (W) Kalen Pendergrass came in with 9 points and 6 rebounds while the floor general (PG)David Hernandez had 8 points. Big man standout was (C)Wesley Brown with 10 points and 10 rebounds on a super efficient 83% shooting from the field. He had to sit out most of the 2nd quarter due to picking up two early fouls.

Although Hendrickson's defensive effort started out slow, they picked up the steam in the second half. (PG)Isaak "the ball Hawk" Gonzalez hounded St. Michael's guards and frustrated them with 5 steals. (PF/C) Kofi Asante and (C) Wesley Brown were intimidating as they altered St. Michael's shots around the basketball. (W/PF)Trey Guiterrez played tough, scrappy defense while (PF/C)Chase Holtzendorf and (PG)Chris McDaniel rounded out the effort.

Pflugerville Hendrickson 86 vs Austin Akins 68

The Pflugerville Hendrickson Freshman "A" Team went into the holiday break with an impressive victory over Austin Akins.

Akins kept it close in the first half, however Hendrickson picked up the defense in the second half and ran away with it. (C/P) Wesley Brown led all scorers with 15 points and also grabbed 10 rebounds, with 5 of those on the offensive boards, while (PF/C) Kofi Asante contributed 8 points and 8 boards and (W/PF) Trey Guiterrez had 8 points and 4 rebounds. (PF/C) Chase Holtzendorf rounded out the big man play with 7 points and 1 rebound. As you can see, we dominated inside.

(W) Will Coleman had 11 points and 4 steals, while W Kalen Pendergrass came in with 10 points, hitting 3 out of 4 attempts from the field. (SG) Josh King had a very good overall game with 7 points 6 rebounds and 2 assist. (SG) Josh Hester, (PG) David Hernandez, (PG) Isaak Gonzales and (PG) Chris McDaniel were all able to control the flow of the game and consistently break down the Akins defense.

Overall Pflugerville Hendrickson's quickness on defense and dominate inside play overwhelmed Austin Akins.

Hendrickson High Freshman "A" Team Intro

Hendrickson High School Freshman "A" Basketball team will go into the holiday break with a very good 13-2 record. Their average margin of victory is 24 points and they have a very deep team in terms of talent.

Here's the breakdown by position:
-PG David Hernandez is cat-like quick and posses incredible handles. He can break defenses down and his teammates better have their eyes open and hands ready for those no-look passes.

-PG Isaak Gonzales is a ball hawk on defense and also have the ability to break a defense down and get to the basket.

-PG Chris McDaniel is quick penetrating the defense and is a very respectable on the ball defender.

-SG Josh King is a sharp shooter from the 3 point area. You can not leave him alone or he will drain 3's all day. He's a tough, hard-nosed defender who's not afraid of sacrificing his body.

-SG Josh Hester is deceptively quick. He can break down a defense going to the basket and has great court vision. He has a very good mid-range jump shot.

-W Will Coleman is also a deadly 3 point shooter and is very sneaky defensively. He has incredible hops for a guy around 5'7.

-W Kalan Pendergrass can be big on the boards and will take the ball to the hole at will.

-W/PF Trey Guiterrez is a tough, hard-nosed, scrappy defender. He's not afraid to use his body and get on the floor for loose balls.

-PF/C Kofi Asante is very skilled around the basket and possess mad hops. He has a very decent mid-range jumper which means he can hurt you inside and out.

-PF/C Chase Holtzendorf is very scrappy around the basket and has a nose for loose balls. He has good hands and will not have a lot of turnovers.

-C/P Wesley Brown is a monster on the boards and is great at blocking and altering shots around the basket. At 6'5 he can dominate on both ends of the floor.
